Scabies is a common, ridiculous skin malady that causes severe itching. This is due to the mites that dig deep under the skin. It is very contagious and spreads quite rapidly through intimate skin contact with the effected person. Red patches and small blisters emerge above the point where the mites had formed burrows in the skin, and they itch quite relentlessly.

First of all you have to be sure if your itch is a sign of scabies. You will suffer from intense itching over tiny bumps that appear all over your body, with small burrow lines in their middle. Such itching occurs mostly at night and might be more prevalent after bathing or exercising. Blisters may be present especially between your fingers or on your elbows, wrists, ankles hands, armpits, feet, genitals, etc. Infants might have it on the soles of their feet as well.
To treat scabies, there are a few very popular methods to treat scabies at home domestically without visiting a doctor or having to buy medicines:
- Personal Hygiene: Everyone knows how contagious scabies is. It might not be long before your carelessness helps it propagate within your family and friends. Therefore, before the treatment is started, one should isolate his or her clothing, bedding, and all other personal things from others. All the clothes should be washed with boiling water and then dried in the sun. Everything the infected people use should be sterilized properly.
- Tea Tree Oil: It is highly recommended by doctors for those patients who show reluctance to take medicines. It has antibacterial and antiseptic properties that kill off bacteria and microorganisms. In order to get rid of scabies, tea tree oil has to be applied directly over the affected areas.
- Neem Leaves: This is perhaps the most extensively used technique to heal man skin problems, including scabies. You can use neem leaves by simply boiling them in water till their contents are leaked out. Alternatively, neem extracts can directly be mixed with warm bath water. Neem oil can also be used as an alternative to neem extracts. Scabies will be gone in just a few weeks if you bathe every other day with neem.
- Turmeric: This is used in natural remedies to treat scabies in addition with neem. Turmeric paste and neem paste have the ability to kill scabies mites and other microorganisms, wherever they are applied. Neem extracts are added to turmeric powder to form a thick paste, which is then allpied over the affected area for an hour or so before bathing.
This is not the end. To prevent scabies from re-infecting you or your closed ones, you have to take steps to hold back the re-infestation of mites. Scabies mites can survive for a day or two out of the human host, so cleaning your house ensures that they are not able to live much longer. All towels and bedding should be washed with hot water in order to disinfect and nullify any threats. Clothes should not be worn for long, and should be washed daily. Reassess yourself after six weeks and check your progress. Chances are that you will be just as good as new if you follow the remedies mentioned earlier.
